We all face moments when we feel overwhelmed, scared, or alone. Stressful times during adolescence, young adulthood, marriage, divorce, parenting challenges, and health issues can make life feel unmanageable. While these experiences are hard, they also offer opportunities for growth.
I provide warm but direct therapy. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based therapeutic approach. ACT is a process therapy, teaching psychological flexibility.
I can help you take small, intentional steps towards the life you want. You can learn how to:
Show up with curiosity instead of judgement
Allow difficult emotions and experiences to exist without fighting them
Notice unhelpful thoughts without being guided by them
Stay connected to your values to guide your choices and identity
Respond to challenges with flexibility
Committed steps create meaningful change.

Being an adolescent or a young adult is not easy. I grew up and worked in the culture of academic excellence my whole life and understand the pressures that affect both driven students and their parents.
ACT therapy helps us shift from relentless performance pressure to value-based motivation, helping students and parents grow and strive developmentally and academically.
Creating and maintaining healthy marriages and families is difficult. In a world where our lives—and our children’s lives—are increasingly busy, it's more important than ever to stay intentionally relational. Using ACT, I help couples and families build healthier, more connected relationships. Together we learn to recognize the difference between healthy and unhealthy conflict. I support each person in taking accountability for their part, identify multigenerational patterns, and learn healthy and thoughtful conflict management.
I also specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating separation or divorce. A divorce challenges us with navigating our emotions while also comprehending the legal system. I help individuals stay grounded and psychologically flexible to observe painful thoughts and emotions without being consumed by them. I teach “self-as-context,” which reminds you that this too shall pass, while helping you stay aligned with your values.
I am a cancer survivor. I understand the shock and fear that comes with an initial diagnosis. Some people go into depression, while others go into a fight or flight response and don’t process their emotions until later. A serious diagnosis impacts both the individual and their loved ones. I support clients in managing fear and uncertainty, communicating their needs, caring for themselves, and maintaining meaningful relationships through medical challenges.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 25 years of experience. My practice helps clients cultivate awareness, identify what truly matters, and take steps toward a more meaningful life. Having personally navigated divorce, cancer, and parenting through major transitions, I bring empathy, resilience, and practical support to my work.
I offer in-person sessions in Santa Barbara and virtual appointments.
